Faculty

Paul Eberts, MD, Program Director

Dr. Eberts graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and then completed a Family Medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He then spent time in West Virginia with the National Health Service, providing medical care in rural West Virginia. During this time, he was also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine with Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. Dr. Eberts spent more than a decade in private practice before joining the faculty at St. Francis Family Medicine. Dr. Eberts is Clinical Assistant Professor at Temple University School of Medicine and adjunct Clinical Professor at PCOM.

Dr. Eberts has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatrics and directs the geriatric education of the residents. He is medical director of Brackenville Care Center, where the residents learn nursing home care. Additional interests are adult well care and management of chronic disease in adults.

David Hack , MD, Associate Director
Medical Director, Family Practice Center

Dr. Hack graduated from Villanova University with a B.S. in Biology and completed his medical training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry Medical School in Newark, NJ. He completed his residency at St. Francis in 1999, earning the AAFP Resident Teaching Award, and elected to continue on as faculty.
Dr. Hack is coordinator of Tiny Steps, the family medical obstetrical service. He is also medical director of House of Joseph II, a group home for homeless, end-stage HIV patients since 1999.
Dr. Hack's main interests include family-oriented maternity care, and curriculum development using evidence-based medicine. If he is not found tinkering around in his hot-pepper laden garden, he is with his wife and children.

Galicano Inguito, Jr., MD, MBA, CPE, FAAFP
Associate Director
Director, Residency Didactic and Procedural Training Curriculum

Dr. Inguito is a graduate of Jefferson Medical College and trained at the Ghent Family Practice Residency Program in Norfolk, Virginia where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Inguito has a great interest in procedures and is involved in training the residents in obstetrics, colposcopy, minor outpatient surgery, and joint injections. He is an Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) instructor.

At the national level, Dr. Inguito is active with the Federation of State Medical Boards, currently serving on the Board of Directors. Dr. Inguito serves on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3 Committee. Dr. Inguito is an active member of numerous Boards including the University of Delaware Alumni Association and the Delaware Institution of Medical Education and Research (DIMER). He was named as the 2008-2009 Family Physician of the Year by the Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Inguito received his Masters of Business degree from the University of Delaware Executive Program. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Temple University School of Medicine and is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the American College of Physician Executives.

Hugh Bonner MD, Assistant Director

Hugh Bonner, MD is a graduate of Haverford College and The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed Family Medicine Residency at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Bonner was in private practice for many years and during that time served as a Preceptor regularly teaching the residents. Dr. Bonner has a keen interest in evidence based medicine and geriatrics.

Dr. Hugh Bonner has served as President of The Delaware Academy of Family Physicians and is quite active in the community.

Robert Monteleone, MD, Assistant Director

Dr. Monteleone graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.S. in Biology followed by his M.D. at the Univ. of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He then completed a Family Medicine Residency at the University of Connecticut where he received the AAFP Resident Teacher Award. Afterwards he completed a Rural Family Practice and Maternity Care fellowship at the University of Texas - Galveston which included training in operative and non-operative obstetrics as well as office based procedures. He then went into private practice in Elkton, Maryland where he has been for over 10 years. He is the Chair of the Credentials Committee at Union Hospital in Elkton and he continues to work in his private practice on a part-time basis. Dr. Monteleone is also the State Surgeon for the Delaware Army National Guard and has served as a physician on two tours in Iraq. He is a member of the Medical Executive Committee - Advisory Council for the Chief Surgeon of the Army National Guard.

Dr. Monteleone's main interests include practice management, office based procedures, and family centered maternity care. His hobbies are mountain biking, running, and participating in various activities with his children.

Oswaldo Nicastro, MD, Clinical Instructor Medical Director, St. Clare Van Director, St. Francis House Physician Program

Oswaldo Nicastro, M.D. is a 2008 graduate of The St. Francis Hospital department of Family Medicine. He is Medical Director of The St. Clare Outreach Program and sees patients on a daily basis through the St Clare Van as well as in outpatient clinic at the Sacred Heart Clinic in Wilmington Delaware. The St. Clare Van is a major source of community outreach for the underserved in the city of Wilmington. He also serves in a teaching role for both residents and medical students. In addition he service as house physician for St Francis Hospital providing inpatient care. Dr. Nicastro uses both his medical skills and bilingual and bicultural skills to provide a distinctive service to his patients. Dr. Nicastro is an excellent medical communicator who speaks to community groups on a regular basis, and serves on various boards throughout the community, including The Mother Teresa House through The Ministry of Caring, and philihealthinfo.org, an online health information network. Dr. Nicastro is committed to the mission of St Francis in providing the best care possible with the utmost compassion and respect.

Melissa Tribuiani, MD, Assistant Director
Medical Director, Center of Hope

Dr. Tribuiani is a 1996 graduate of Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her residency at St. Francis in 1999 and then joined the faculty. She is the Medical Director of The St. Francis Center of Hope, where she sees a predominantly Spanish-speaking population. Her areas of interest include family-centered maternity care, pediatrics, diabetes management and colposcopy. Dr. Tribuiani serves on the maternal and child care committee for the Medical Society of Delaware and is on the Board of Directors for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Delaware.
Her hobbies include solving puzzles, listening to a wide variety of music, and spending time with her husband and children.

Khuram Ghumman, MD, Junior Faculty

Dr. Ghumman graduated from Nishtar Medical College, Multan, Pakistan.  He completed his internship at Mayo Hospital Lahore, Pakistan.  He then completed his residency training in Family Medicine at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware where he served as a chief resident.  He graduated in 2009 and continued as faculty.  He sees patients at St. Francis Center of Hope; an outreach program in Newark, DE.

Dr. Ghumman received an MPH in public health policy and management from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  His interests include a population based preventive care and public health policy research.  He loves playing sports and traveling around the world.

Janelle VonBargen, Ph.D.
Behavioral Medicine Instructor

Janelle earned her Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Human Ecology in 1996. Her concentration was in cultural diversity and family dynamics. Since that time Janelle has worked for and directed non-profit organizations serving minority populations. Currently Janelle is an instructor at the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware. Janelle has led and conducted many workshops and seminars focusing on and developing multi-cultural awareness, improving communication skills and enhancing conflict resolution skills.
Janelle enjoys spending time at the beach with her three sons and running in her spare time.

Brian McDonough, MD, Chairman, Department of Family Medicine

Brian McDonough, MD served as Associate Director of The St. Francis Family Medicine Program from 1993-2008. He now serves as Chairman, Department of Family Medicine. In that role he oversees the Family Medicine Residency Program, The St. Clare Medical Outreach Van, The Center of Hope, Tiny Steps and various satellite offices including Sacred Heart. He serves on The Board of Directors of St. Francis Hospital.

Dr. McDonough is Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine. It is at Temple where he received his MD degree and later completed a Fellowship in Faculty Development. Dr. McDonough has won numerous awards including The American Cancer Sword of Hope Award, The American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Award and The Sir William Osler Award for Bedside Teaching. In 2006, he was named Family Physician of The Year by The Delaware Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Brian McDonough is also well known for his work in television and radio conveying medical information. His work in these areas is presently syndicated on more than 500 media outlets through the United States. He has won four Emmy Awards for his work. Dr. McDonough serves as Senior Medical Editor for www.mymedicalreports.com.
